Job summary

Southern Orthopedic Specialists, PA seeks a dedicated LPN, MA, or Athletic Trainer to support doctors in an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Panama City, FL. You will perform clinical and administrative tasks, assist with exams, and help ensure efficient patient flow.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of clinical experience, familiarity with EHR systems, strong communication, teamwork, and CPR certification. This is a full-time, in-person role with benefits in a busy orthopedic practice.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of clinical staff experience required
• Working knowledge of EHR software
• CPR certification
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinic

Responsibilities

• Provide care for orthopedic patients including bone/muscle issues.
• Help facilitate clinic workflow and patient flow.
• Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals.
• Assist receptionist with faxes, labs, and scans.
• Prepare patients for exams: vitals, history, and measurements.
• Protect patient confidentiality and accurately code records.
• Counsel patients on surgery and physician orders.
• Schedule surgeries and coordinate with surgical center, pre-admission and consent forms.
• Maintain a safe, compliant work environment and adhere to regulations.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides care for patients who have suffered from bone fractures, arthritis, and other bone and muscle-related problems and other orthopedic needs.
• Helps facilitate the workflow of the clinic.
• Obtains all needed authorizations and/or referrals.
• Assists the medical receptionist with faxes, labs, and scans to deliver excellent care effectively.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential.
• Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
• Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission, and consent forms.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
