Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a CPUP Licensed Practical Nurse to support physicians and provide patient care in outpatient and clinical settings at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

The role requires PA LPN license and BLS, with 1+ year outpatient experience preferred. You will administer medications, perform EKGs, document vitals, assist with procedures, and participate in patient education and team orientation.

Qualifications

  • Active PA Licensed Practical Nurse license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • 1+ year outpatient experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and tests specimens following standard procedures and documents results.
  • Gathers information from patient and directs to RN or Provider.
  • Assists provider with surgical procedures including positioning and sterile field maintenance.
  • Prepares paperwork to complete patient visits and documents vital signs.

Department: Neuroscience Shared Services
Location: Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine-3400 Civic Center Blvd
Hours: Fulltime, Onsite, Monday - Friday

Summary: The CPUP Licensed Practical Nurse assists physicians and performs healthcare services to patients in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Monitors and charts patients, collects sample, and performs other tasks as assigned, all under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.

Responsibilities
  • Administers prescribed medications, gives injections and vaccines, reads PPD results.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (EKG) and screening tests.
  • Obtains and tests specimens following standard operating procedures and documents results, taking appropriate action with unexpected results. Prepares specimens for transport as necessary.
  • Gather information from patient and direct to the RN or Provider when necessary.
  • Assists provider with surgical procedures including positioning patients, keeping a sterile field, and wound cleaning and dressing.
  • Prepares paperwork to complete patient visit.
  • Obtains and documents patient's vital signs as needed and reports abnormal results to provider.
  • Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and checks to make sure all instruments and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Maintains medication storage closets.
  • Participates in orienting new team members.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Credentials
  • PA Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support per the American Heart Association (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Practice Nursing School Diploma (Required)
  • 1+ years Outpatient experience (Preferred)
Skills and abilities
  • Computer software skills and knowledge.
  • Client and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
