Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support physicians in hospitals, clinics, and other facilities. You will monitor patients, collect specimens, and perform assigned tasks under supervision of RNs and doctors.

Responsibilities include administering medications, performing EKGs, gathering patient information, assisting with procedures, and documenting vitals. Requires LPN and BLS/CPR; outpatient experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program is required.
  • 1+ year outpatient experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications and injections as directed.
  • Performs EKGs and screening tests.
  • Obtains and tests specimens and documents results.
  • Directs patient information to RN or Provider when needed.
  • Assists with surgical procedures and maintains sterile field.
  • Prepares paperwork to complete patient visits.
  • Measures and reports patient vitals and abnormal results.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains medication storage areas and assists orientation of new staff.

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse
Entity: Clinical Practices of University of Pennsylvania
Department: Med Gen Int Faculty Prac East
Location: 3701 Market Street
Hours: Full Time
Summary:
  • The CPUP Licensed Practical Nurse assists physicians and performs healthcare services to patients in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. Monitors and charts patients, collects sample, and performs other tasks as assigned, all under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.
Responsibilities:
  • Administers prescribed medications, gives injections and vaccines, reads PPD results.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (EKG) and screening tests.
  • Obtains and tests specimens following standard operating procedures and documents results, taking appropriate action with unexpected results. Prepares specimens for transport as necessary.
  • Gather information from patient and direct to the RN or Provider when necessary.
  • Assists provider with surgical procedures including positioning patients, keeping a sterile field, and wound cleaning and dressing.
  • Prepares paperwork to complete patient visit.
  • Obtains and documents patient's vital signs as needed and reports abnormal results to provider.
  • Cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and checks to make sure all instruments and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Maintains medication storage closets.
  • Participates in orienting new team members.
Credentials:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
  • BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Practice Nursing School (Required)
  • 1+ years Outpatient experience (Preferred)
