The Covenant Health Cumberland Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Post Anesthesia Care Unit on a full-time, day-shift basis. The LPN will provide nursing care under RN supervision, manage admissions data, and participate in unit quality initiatives.

Responsibilities include administering IV venipuncture, following the nursing plan of care, documenting patient responses, and collaborating with the RN team to ensure patient safety and compliant care.

Qualifications

  • Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • No prior experience as a LPN/LVN needed.
  • Minimum Education: None specified; must meet license/certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates admission database and history, and in collaboration with the RN implements patient and family teaching and care needs.
  • Practices in compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
  • Performs and prioritizes nursing care tasks in collaboration with RN.
  • Follows the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders under direction of a RN.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities and patient care conferences.
  • Demonstrates infection control principles and safety for patients, visitors, personnel.
  • Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
  • Administers IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per hospital protocol.
  • Performs advanced patient care treatments as approved by hospital protocol.
  • Completes required education annually and supports quality improvement initiatives.

Position Summary

The LPN/LVN will provide nursing care under supervision of a registered nurse, within an assigned unit.

Responsibilities
  • Initiates admission database and history, and in collaboration with the RN implements patient and family teaching and care needs.
  • Practices in compliance with all regulatory standards and adheres to all hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Performs and prioritizes nursing care tasks.
  • Accurately follows the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of a RN.
  • Observes and reports nursing interventions and patient responses, and documents in a timely, concise and legible manner.
  • Recognizes, responds, and reports changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader.
  • Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
  • Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
  • Administers IV venipuncture and parenteral fluids per established hospital protocol.
  • Performs specific advanced patient care treatments as approved to perform per hospital protocol.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience

No prior experience as a LPN/LVN needed.

Licensure Requirement

Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
