Job summary

Suffolk Pediatrics in Central Islip, NY is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our pediatric primary care team. You’ll work under pediatricians and NPs to provide direct patient care and support clinical workflows for children and families.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, administering vaccines, in-house lab draws, helping with exams, documenting in eClinicalWorks, and coordinating care.

Qualifications

  • Active LPN license in New York State.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
  • Pediatric outpatient experience preferred, new grads welcome.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) — Pediatric Practice

Location: Suffolk Pediatrics, Central Islip, NY (Suffolk County, Long Island)

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Practice

We are a community-focused pediatric primary care practice dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to children and families in our community. We're looking for a skilled and caring LPN to join our clinical team.

Position Summary

The LPN will work under the supervision of the practice's pediatricians and nurse practitioners to provide direct patient care, support clinical workflows, and help ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience for our young patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse ox)
  • Administer vaccines and medications per provider orders and practice protocols
  • Perform in-house lab draws and point-of-care testing (e.g., strep, flu, urinalysis)
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures
  • Document patient information accurately in the EHR (eClinicalWorks)
  • Conduct patient/family education on care plans, medications, and preventive health
  • Complete developmental and health screenings as directed
  • Follow up on lab results, referrals, and care coordination tasks
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and organized exam rooms and clinical supplies
  • Support infection control and safety protocols
  • Assist with prior authorizations and referral documentation as needed
  • Collaborate with front desk and clinical staff to keep patient flow on schedule
Qualifications
  • Active LPN license in New York State
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Prior pediatric or outpatient experience preferred, but new grads welcome to apply
  • Experience with EHR systems (eClinicalWorks a plus)
  • Comfortable working with infants, children, and adolescents
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Strong communication skills and a warm, patient-centered approach
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
