Job summary

Serrato Corporation seeks a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to assist the Health and Wellness Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating a student wellness program in Detroit. You will provide nursing care, dispense medications, and help maintain patient records under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold an active LPN license, BLS/CPR certification, and a diploma from an accredited nursing program, with strong computer skills and a team-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
• Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to show patience and compassion when providing nursing services to patients who may have negative emotion.
• Detail-oriented to patient's vital signs, dietary needs, medication schedules, ect..

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the Health and Wellness Manager, assist in planning and evaluating the wellness program.
• Ensure doctor's orders are followed in the Wellness Center and care of patients as prescribed.
• Maintain patient charts and medical/dental records for terminated students.
• Notify residential staff of released patients and manage admissions/dismissals records.
• Compile logs and reports on wellness use, examinations, and medication use.
• Dispense prescribed medications and assist with examinations and wellness care.
• Serve as on-call nurse when scheduled and support performance standards.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of the health facility and proper equipment controls.

Job description

Primary Position Objective

Assists the Health and Wellness Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating an efficient wellness program consistent with the students' needs and Job Corps goals and objectives. Provide nursing services.

Brief Description of Duties

• Performs duties under the supervision of the Health and Wellness Manager.
• Responsible for ensuring doctor's orders are followed in the Wellness Center and the care of all patients as prescribed
• Maintains charts on all patients and compiles medical, and dental records of terminated students
• Notifies residential personnel of released patients
• Maintains a record of all admissions and dismissals
• Compiles various logs, records and reports; for example, wellness use, examinations, and medication use
• Maintains a record of all calls to on-call medical personnel
• Dispenses prescribed medication
• Assists with cursory examinations, sick call, and wellness care
• Serves as on-call nurse when schedules
• Works to ensure performance management standards are met
• Ensures that required property (equipment) controls are adhered to
• Maintains current knowledge in CPR and First Aid
• Ensures that a clean and safe health facility is operated at all times
• Monitors area of responsibility to ensure timely and high-quality services.
• Works toward meeting performance standards goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

One year of related experience and/or training is required.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and diploma from an accredited Practical Nursing Program

Certificates/Licenses/Registration

• Current LPN License from the State
• Current BLS/CPR Certification
• Valid State Driver's License
