Horizon Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse to join Abbeville General Hospital's 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit in Abbeville, LA. The LPN provides direct nursing care under supervision, follows the treatment plan, and documents care concisely for a defined patient group.

Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, observing patient condition, and assisting with seclusion or restraints as needed while ensuring dignity and compassionate care for

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted LPN license.
• 1-3 years experience in behavioral health or medical-surgical nursing.
• CPR, BLS, ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Restore and promote patient health by completing the nursing process.
• Observe patients and report/record their medical and physical condition.
• Attend to patient personal needs (hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing).
• Obtain patient vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiration).
• Assist in safe seclusion or restraints per approved methods; observe precautions.
• Administer medications and injections as needed.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures.
• Interpret nursing and treatment needs to nonclinical staff.
• Ensure patient dignity and provide emotional/psychological support to patients and families.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additionally, he/she is responsible for concise documentation for an assigned group of patients.

• Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, etc.) as required.
• Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature and respiration.
• As needed, and using approved methods, assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicide/seclusion precautions; including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patients.
• Administer medications and/or injections as needed.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedure/process.
• Interpret the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to nonclinical staff assigned to the patient.
• Insure patient dignity and respect patient values. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
• Other duties as assigned.
