Job summary

Horizon Health, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, is seeking an LPN for a full-time Behavioral Health unit at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA. The LPN will deliver care to adults on an inpatient psychiatric unit under supervision and document patient progress.

Responsibilities include interpreting care needs for the team, assisting with patient safety, administering meds, and supporting patients and families with compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted LPN license.
• 1–3 years of nursing experience.
• CPR, BLS, ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care under supervision to psychiatric inpatients.
• Observe patients and document their medical and physical condition.
• Attend to personal care needs (hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing).
• Record vital signs (pulse, BP, temp, respiration).
• Assist with seclusion or restraints when necessary and ensure safety.
• Administer medications and injections as directed.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures and communicate needs to nonclinical staff.
• Interpret patient needs to the healthcare team and support patient dignity.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
• Other duties as assigned.

LPN- Full time- Behavioral Health

Horizon Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA. This is a 16 bed inpatient psychiatric unit treating ages 18+.Under the supervision and/or direction of the Staff Nurse or Charge Nurse, the psychiatric Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of nursing care consistent with the treatment plan. Additionally, he/she is responsible for concise documentation for an assigned group of patients.

Responsibilities:

• Restore and promote patient’s health by completing the nursing process.
• Observe patients and reports/records their medical and physical condition appropriately.
• Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, etc.) as required.
• Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature and respiration.
• As needed, and using approved methods, assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicide/seclusion precautions; including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patients.
• Administer medications and/or injections as needed.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedure/process.
• Interpret the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to nonclinical staff assigned to the patient.
• Insure patient dignity and respect patient values. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
• Other duties as assigned.
