Job summary

Étoile Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated teacher to deliver data-driven instruction and uphold our REACH values. You will collaborate with special education and ESL staff to meet diverse student needs and implement a scripted curriculum.

The role requires analyzing assessments (NWEA MAP, MCLASS, i-Ready), maintaining accurate grade books, and engaging families with regular progress updates. A Bachelor's degree and teaching certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution is required
• Experience in a classroom setting preferred
• State certification preferred but not required
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
• Completion of Reading Academies preferred
• Previous experience teaching a STAAR tested grade preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach core content using scripted curriculum (Amplify and Eureka) to Etoile students.
• Internalize lessons and prepare for execution by considering misconceptions and success criteria.
• Manage a classroom using our school-wide discipline system.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track progress, adjust lessons, and update grade book weekly.
• Analyze data from assessments (NWEA MAP, MCLASS, i-Ready) to implement personalized learning plans.
• Support growth of all students, including English Language Learners.
• Communicate progress with students and families daily and weekly.
• Facilitate technology use as a communication and educational tool.
• Implement behavior management and build classroom community.
• Participate in daily school operations such as arrival, lunch, and dismissal supervision.
• Attend staff meetings, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences.
• Build trusting relationships with students and families.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly meetings, teacher development, and school-wide events.
• Engage in summer and year-round professional development.
• Minimum of 40 hours per week on-site.
• May include after-school tutoring or Saturday school as needed.

Job description

Étoile Academy teachers are responsible for executing on the mission by ensuring that all students improve academically and demonstrate our core values. Teachers are responsible for providing high-quality, data-driven instruction to all learners. They are responsible for collaborating with colleagues, including special education staff and ESL staff, to ensure all students get the accommodations and modifications needed to master the grade-level standards.

Responsibilities

• Teach core content using a scripted curriculum (Amplify and Eureka) to Etoile students;
• Deeply internalize lessons and prepare for lesson execution through consideration of common misconceptions, criteria for success, and creation of exemplars as needed;
• Manage a classroom using our school wide discipline system;
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update grade book weekly;
• Analyze and use data from a variety of assessments (NWEA MAP, MCLASS, i-Ready) to implement personalized learning plans for all students and ensure student academic growth;
• Support the growth and development of all students including our large percentage of English Language Learners;
• Communicate students’ progress with students and their families on a daily and weekly basis;
• Facilitate the use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks;
• Implement our clear and consistent behavior management system and build a strong sense of community in the classroom;
• Participate in the daily functions of the school such as arrival, lunch, and dismissal supervisory duties;
• Attend critical school events such as staff meetings, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences;
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respectfor the communities in which they identify;
• Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs;
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, TPDs (Teacher Professional Development), before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functions;
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development;
• Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week;
• Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our students
