Job description

Lower School Part-Time Floater Teacher / After-School Assistant

Hackley Lower School, a K-4 division serving 205 students on a 285-acre campus, seeks a Part-Time Floater Teacher / After-School Assistant for the 2025-2026 school year. This position reports to both the Assistant Director and the Director of the Lower School.

During regular school hours, this position will serve as a "floater," or in-house substitute teacher / aide, supporting homeroom and specialist classes (e.g., science, art) and student supervision. It may also include educational clerical duties, such as creating bulletin boards or preparing lesson materials. This role offers an opportunity to support students and teachers during school hours.

After school, the role functions as an After-School Assistant, supporting the Lower School After School program. Responsibilities include managing logistics, supervising students, and handling administrative tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting teachers and club leaders to ensure a safe, engaging environment, including working with large groups of students
  • Communicating issues promptly to the Assistant Director and Director
  • Supervising transitions during the after-school program
  • Managing billing, payroll, and communication
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Salary: This is a full-year, 20-hour weekly position (4 hours per day during school days), paid at $25/hour.
