Job description

Palm Beach Day Academy, an independent, coeducational school established in 1921, is an independent, coeducational school serving 592 students from age 2 to Grade 8 on two campuses.

Position Overview:

The Music Teacher will design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music classes to students from Pre-Primary through Third grade (ages 2 – Grade 3). As part of the PBDA team, this teacher will focus on cultivating students’ musical skills, creativity, and appreciation through a variety of experiences such as singing, movement, instrument play, and performance opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach music classes that align with students’ developmental stages and abilities.
  • Introduce students to basic music concepts, rhythm, melody, and expression.
  • Provide opportunities for students to explore instruments and vocal techniques.
  • Coordinate and lead music performances or showcases as part of school events
  • Lead the Lower School Chorus, including planning rehearsals, selecting repertoire, and organizing performances throughout the school year.
  • Collaborate with classroom and special area teachers to support interdisciplinary learning.
  • Foster a joyful, collaborative, and respectful classroom environment.
