A leading educational institution in Charleston seeks a Lower School Lead Teacher for grades K-4. This full-time position starts in August 2024. Job Description
Ashley Hall School seeks applicants for Lead Teacher positions in Lower School. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Major Responsibilities:
Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the school as a whole, sharing responsibilities for curriculum development and divisional priorities.
Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences, guided by student interests.
Implement classroom instruction that includes whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
Prepare assignments for students, review and provide feedback and/or grades.
Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.
Communicate clearly and work well with parents and colleagues.
As a lead teacher other duties include:
Assisting at car-pool (drop off and pick up of students), lunch and recess duty.
Professional development as it relates to curriculum development, health and safety of students.
All other duties as assigned by the division director.
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree.
Experience in independent schools.
Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme or have training in IB methodology.
Experience with Units of Study in Reading and Writing (Teachers’ College Reading and Writing Project), EveryDay Math, Responsive Classroom.
Have experience in and a commitment to differentiated learning and a strong pedagogical approach to supporting diverse learners.
A commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to engage and honor all learners and embrace diverse perspectives.
