Riverdale Country School, a Pre-K through Grade 12 independent all-gender school in New York City, is dedicated to inspiring students to live meaningful and purpose-driven lives. Head Teachers at Riverdale have classes of approximately 22 students to allow faculty to cultivate strong relationships with each child. In addition to teaching the core academic subjects, Head Teachers are responsible for supporting the holistic development of their students through effective instruction and by building a strong classroom community. Head Teachers are members of a grade level team that engages in frequent collaboration related to planning, instruction, and assessment directly connected to student learning.
Faculty members are expected to engage in all aspects of work with an open mind, a positive disposition, and a willingness to support the greater community. Additionally, Riverdale seeks candidates who are committed to work in the areas of equity, justice, and inclusion. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required for the position. Preference is given to those with a Master’s Degree in a related field of study and those with lead teaching experience.
The salary range for this position is based on our Head Teacher salary scale. Head Teachers are placed on the scale based on years of experience. Next year’s salary scale will range from approximately $60,000-135,000, with the low end representing teachers with limited classroom experience and the higher end representing those with more than 25 years of experience.
