Latin School of Chicago is seeking an experienced full-time Lower School (Elementary) Lead Teacher to join our team starting in Fall 2025.

Pay Range

This range is provided by Latin School of Chicago. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $64,622.00/yr - $114,976.00/yr

The Lower School Lead Teacher teaches core curriculum: literacy, mathematics, and social studies in a self-contained classroom. This position collaborates with other members of the Lower School team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement unit plans and age-appropriate curricula to nurture all domains of children’s development.
2. Create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment reflecting children’s learning and growth.
3. Incorporate cultural, linguistic, and familial values into daily instruction, demonstrating cultural competency and respect.
4. Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate play, motor skills, and safety.
5. Embed technology into the instructional program effectively.
6. Differentiates instruction to meet diverse student needs.
7. Assess student progress and communicate findings to students, parents, and administration.
8. Establish and maintain respectful relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
9. Support social/emotional growth and manage student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.
10. Maintain an organized classroom supporting independent learning, collaboration, and choice.
11. Write detailed narratives throughout the year to communicate student progress.
12. Participate in all aspects of lower school life, including meetings and parent communication.
13. Mentor assistant teachers and fulfill the role of cooperating teacher for student teachers.
14. Engage in ongoing professional development and learning communities.
