Job description

Greenwich Academy seeks talented beginning teachers to serve as associate teachers in our Lower School. The AT Program is a two-year commitment designed for qualified college graduates with liberal arts backgrounds. Associate teachers are welcomed into a collegial, supportive environment, introduced to a variety of effective teaching styles, and offered an array of professional development opportunities including seminars, outside speakers and career counseling. ATs are full members of the Lower School teaching teams, preparing and delivering lessons in language arts, mathematics and social studies.

Most associate teachers pursue graduate studies concurrent to their teaching responsibilities, attending classes at nearby universities or through approved online programs. Greenwich Academy partially funds graduate studies.

GA seeks candidates dedicated to immersing themselves in school life and in the education of girls. Our faculty believes in student-centered teaching and in teaching that encourages students to learn for the joy of learning.

Greenwich Academy is an independent college-preparatory day school for girls and young women that seeks to foster excellence. Its mission is to provide a challenging, comprehensive educational experience grounded in a rigorous liberal arts curriculum within an inclusive, diverse community. The school’s objective is to develop girls and young women of exceptional character and achievement who demonstrate independence, resilience, courage, integrity, and compassion. Through our coordinate program with Brunswick School, classes in the Upper School are mostly co-educational. As a community, we strive above all to honor our motto, “Toward the Building of Character.”

Working at Greenwich Academy

The greatest benefit of a career at Greenwich Academy is working with our phenomenal students and our extraordinary faculty and staff. GA employees are a diverse group of incredibly talented scholars, writers, artists, engineers, athletes, researchers and creative thinkers with one shared goal: to nurture young people of exceptional character who demonstrate empathy, independence, resilience, courage and integrity, and who are committed to a life of learning. As part of this group, you will be eligible for many benefits that are industry standards, including health, dental, vision, and 403(B) retirement plans with match, and paid time off. Compensation begins at $34,000 for first-year associate teachers, and all ATs are eligible for graduate school study grants up to $15,750 over two years and some housing support, through GA-owned housing or rent subsidies.
