Position Announcement
Regis is seeking qualified candidates for the role of “Teaching Assistant” in the Lower School for the 2025-26 school year. This role reports to the Lower School Division Head.

Job Description
The Lower School Teaching Assistant’s primary purpose is to assist the Lead Teachers at a designated grade level in creating an academically rigorous classroom environment that is nurturing and supportive. The educational environment that is established must be in accordance with the Goals & Criteria of the Sacred Heart mission.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the lead teachers at the grade level in creating and maintaining a classroom culture of well-being, safety, and physical, social, and emotional health.
  2. Work cooperatively with the lead teachers to provide developmentally appropriate, boy-centered instruction.
  3. Support differentiation through small-group instruction and large-group activities.
  4. Help Regis students begin to develop a healthy relationship with their growing minds and bodies.
  5. Share responsibility with the grade-level team in the preparation of teaching materials and the physical classroom environment.
  6. Assist with the grading of assignments, homework, and assessments.
  7. Be ready to assume responsibility for the classroom at any given time, if needed.
  8. Foster collaborative and positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Contribute to the overall effective operation of the Lower School program.
  9. Participate in faculty and department meetings and trainings, and perform various supervisory duties as needed.
  10. Attend school functions that support the school’s mission and vision, both during and outside the normal school day.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Lower School Division Head.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  2. A minimum of two years of classroom experience, particularly at the elementary level.
  3. Experience in an independent school environment is preferred.
  4. Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and responsible.
  5. Diplomatic, tactful, and possessing the ability to show grace under pressure.
  6. Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills; team-oriented.
  7. Flexibility and “can do” attitude toward supporting colleagues as needed.
  8. Positive and energetic, while maintaining a growth mindset.
  9. References that speak to strengths.
