Job summary

Gulf Coast Utility Contractors in Florida seeks a Dump truck and/or Lowboy Driver to transport materials across Bay County and surrounding counties. This full-time role requires 40+ hours per week and a valid CDL.

The driver will operate dump trucks and lowboys, inspect and maintain equipment, and follow a set schedule while coordinating with the crew. The position demands a 25-year-old minimum, a Medical Card (or ability to obtain one), and relocation within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • Class A or B CDL license required (minimum 2 years).
  • Must be 25 years of age.
  • Medical Card or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dump truck with dump body to transport and unload materials.
  • Follow scheduled pickups and deliveries.
  • Verify material types and weights being hauled.
  • Communicate clearly with other equipment operators and drivers to meet job specs and timelines.
  • Keep truck clean and in good working order; perform basic maintenance and fueling.
  • Complete daily inspections and report any needed service to mechanics.

Job Title: Dump truck and/or Lowboy Driver

Job Location: Bay County, FL and surrounding counties

Job Type: Full Time, Expected hours: No less than 40 hours per week

Manages Others : No

Lowboy Operator : Mustbe experienced in Heavy Equipment Operation; graders, bull dozers, dump trucks, front end loaders, and rollers.

Essential Functions : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation, and meet other requirements of this position.

  • Drive truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials; pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents.
  • Must follow a schedule for pickups and deliveries of materials.
  • Is required to verify the types of materials he is hauling as well as their weight.
  • When working in conjunction with other equipment operators and truck drivers, must clearly communicate with them to make sure materials are delivered according to the job specifications and timetables.
  • Must keep his truck clean and in good working order with proper maintenance and cleaning.
  • Responsible for daily inspection and fueling of truck, will notify the mechanic area when truck needs servicing or maintenance.
  • Any other driving duties that may be assigned
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Class A or B CDL license for minimum of 2 years
  • 25 years of age
  • Medical Card (or ability to get one)
Ability to:
  • Work independently and expected to maintain a schedule of work.
  • Good coordination skills are required for a dump truck driver to operate the controls in the cab of his truck that manipulate the bed.
  • Must have a good understanding of math and angles to properly position the bed to dump materials in measured amounts.
  • Regular and peripheral vision abilities have to be sharp for him/her to be aware of other trucks and of the heavy equipment that frequently surrounds him/her at job sites.
  • Truck driver must know and follow safety regulations of the company and the general safety laws as well.
  • Work cooperatively with others and have a good, positive attitude
  • Be punctual; Further, this means that you must be ready to work when your shift starts.
  • Willingness to work out doors under varying climatic conditions
  • and work overtime on an extended shift or off-hours as needed.
  • You should also work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots
  • Must have quick reaction times
  • Ability to frequently enter and exit the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground
  • Able to sit in the driver’s seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the truck
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.
  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand English is mandatory.

Pay based on experience and position. Minimum starting pay is $18.00.

MUST be able to relocated within 30 days of accepting a job position.
