Job summary

Gray & Son Inc. seeks a qualified Lowboy Truck Driver to operate a truck and trailer for transporting construction equipment and materials to varying sites.

You will load equipment, maintain logs, inspect and service the vehicle, and assist foremen during morning huddles. This hands-on, safety-focused role is based on-site in Norris City, Illinois.

A valid Class A CDL, ability to pass a DOT physical, and a clean driving record are required; hazmat/tanker endorsements are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operates lowboy truck and trailer to transport equipment and materials.
• Loads construction equipment onto trailer and secures load.
• Maintains radio/phone contact with base for directions.
• Keeps truck logs according to regulations.
• Inspects, services and cleans the vehicle regularly.
• Assists in loading and unloading equipment at sites.
• Coordinates with foremen during toolbox talks.
• Operates related equipment knowledgeably and safely.
• Other duties as assigned.

Description

The Lowboy Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck & trailer for transportation of construction material and equipment. In this position, the Lowboy Driver will load construction equipment (may include but are not limited to front end loader, crusher equipment, fuel tanks, dozer, excavator, oversized loads) onto trailer and transport to various construction sites. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks.

Job Duties

• Maintains radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.
• Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
• Keeps record of materials and products transported.
• Cleans, inspects, and services vehicle.
• Operates equipment on vehicle to unload equipment or materials.
• Operational knowledge and skills of trucks and related equipment to be operated.
• The Lowboy Driver assists in loading and unloading truck equipment or materials.
• Willingly attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Certificates and /or Licenses

• Valid Class A CDL
