Job summary

Brubacher is seeking a Truck Driver to operate trucks over 26,001 lbs GVWR with towed units over 10,000 lbs. The role involves moving construction materials, equipment, and waste between sites and within sites, including spreading materials on rough surfaces and loading/unloading on low boy trailers.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, a Class A CDL, and 1–2 years of experience preferred. Safety, compliance with DOT rules, and reliable duties are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety on job and public roads, follow laws and Brubacher rules.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and log hours of service.
  • Know startup/shutdown procedures for heavy equipment and secure loads.
  • Operate truck and trailer in all directions, adjust speed to conditions.
  • Tarpaulin loads to secure stone or fill materials.
  • Understand truck height and capacity and attach/detach parts.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment with low boy trailers; operate attachments.
  • Be vigilant for traffic and avoid injury or damage on site and road.
  • Communicate with team about material alignment using hand signals.
  • Monitor driving hazards and adapt to fog, rain, snow, ice, heat and cold.
  • Follow DOT regulations for hazardous materials; keep vehicles clean.

Job description

The Truck Driver operates any combination of vehicles with a gross weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle or vehicles being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. The Truck Driver moves construction materials, equipment, and waste materials to and from job sites and within job sites. This position spreads materials on rough or graded surfaces. When operating a truck with a low boy trailer, the Truck Driver is responsible for loading and unloading the equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains a high level of safety on the job site, off the job site and on all public roads, by observing applicable laws and regulations of appropriate jurisdictions and Brubacher rules and procedures. Includes turning in required documents in a timely manner (i.e. drivers’ log for hours of service, stone tickets and/or any other documents/reports that may be required). Also, maintain their driver logs on a daily basis through an ELD (electronic logging device) and ensuring they are correct.
  • Ensures that safety and emergency equipment is in good working order by doing pre and post trips.
  • Required to know start up and shut down procedures of heavy equipment and movement of attachments as well as proper procedures for safely securing the equipment on the low boy trailer.
  • Operates vehicle with complete control in all directions including backing truck and trailer into confined spaces and on rough or soft surfaces. Maintains safe speed for the current driving conditions.
  • Secures the loaded fill or stone material by tarping each load.
  • Knows the height and the capacity of the truck and gear mechanisms.
  • Attaches or detaches ancillary parts and equipment to vehicles.
  • Loads and unloads heavy equipment with low boy trailers. Observes start up and shut down procedures of such equipment and is capable of operating attachments.
  • Must be observant of traffic on and off the road; observes the position of people, structures and equipment on the work site and is extremely careful to avoid injury or damage.
  • Communicates with drivers, supervisors, operators, and laborers about the alignment/adjustment of material using hand signals.
  • Observes and is alert to driving hazards on and off the road. Adjusts driving for various conditions such as fog, rain, snow, ice and extreme heat and cold.
  • Understands and practices accident prevention procedures.
  • Follows appropriate DOT regulations for hazardous materials.
  • Keeps vehicles and equipment clean.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Class A CDL required.
  • One to two years of experience is preferred.
