Job summary

LINX is seeking a Low Voltage Technician in Salt Lake City, UT. This full-time role involves installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling systems including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables while ensuring documentation and compliance with industry standards.

You will build, install, and maintain MDFs/IDFs, manage racks and wire management, and uphold high workmanship quality on every installation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of commercial low voltage installation experience.
  • Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables.
  • Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs including racks and patch panels.
  • Adhere to BICSI standards, NEC, and local regulations; ensure safety and quality on site.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism on job sites.

Low voltage technicians work in a team environment to meet project objectives. They must have a great attitude, be dependable, willing to learn and take directions and are reliable on the job site. In this role you will be completing both ISP and OSP work.

Where This Role Fits at LINX
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systemsfor CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with industry standards.
  • Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs, including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware, while troubleshooting low voltage cable systems.
  • Perform cable pulling, suspension, fireproofing, termination, and testingin accordance with BICSI standards, NEC, and local regulationsto ensure safety and compliance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, maintain professionalism and strong communication skills to resolve technical issues and provide solutions.
  • Ensure high-quality, organized, and professional workmanshipon all installations to meet project specifications and exceed customer expectations.
  • Travel to job sites anywhere within your state, may also be required to travel within the USA
  • Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools; ability to lift/carry/setup a 50-pound box or ladder
  • Must own low voltage tools (strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches)
  • Able to work 2nd/3rd shift, overtime, and under pressure.
  • Must pass a 7-year background check, drug screen, and physical.
  • Requires valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance
  • Commercial constructionexperience preferred
  • All above requirements plus a minimum 2years of commercial low voltage installation experience
  • Able to terminate a jack, pull cable and “work a 90” proficiently with limited supervision
  • Can install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems forCAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables proficiently
  • Ability to build out MDF and IDF closetsincluding racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware with supervision
  • All above requirements plus a minimum of 3years of commercial low voltage installation experience
  • Able to terminate a jack, pull cable and “work a 90” proficiently with no supervision
  • Can install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables with no supervision
  • Ability to build out MDF and IDF closets including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware with no supervision
  • Professional working proficiency in English
Preferred Experience (not required)
  • BICSI Technician or Installation Certification
  • Powder Actuated Tools Certification
  • Confined Space Certification
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Manufacturers certifications for Installation and Maintenance
  • High School Diploma
Pay Rate:

Tech 2: $21.00 - $25.00/hour

Tech 3: $23.00 - $28.00/hour
