Job summary

TeamLINX is seeking a Low Voltage Technician to join our Cedar Rapids team. This full‑time role involves installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling systems including CAT5e to fiber, and building MDF/IDF closets.

The position requires travel within the state and possibly across the USA, with a focus on safety and high-quality workmanship. Candidates should have 2+ years of commercial low voltage experience, be able to lift 50 pounds, pass a background check, and hold a valid driver’s

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial low voltage installation experience.
• Must pass a 7-year background check, drug screen, and physical.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables.
• Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs.
• Perform cable pulling, suspension, termination, and testing per BICSI standards, NEC, and local regulations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and professional workmanship on all installations.
• Travel to job sites within the state and possibly across the USA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systemsfor CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with industry standards.
• Build, install, and maintain MDFs and IDFs, including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware, while troubleshooting low voltage cable systems.
• Perform cable pulling, suspension, fireproofing, termination, and testingin accordance with BICSI standards, NEC, and local regulationsto ensure safety and compliance.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, maintain professionalism and strong communication skills to resolve technical issues and provide solutions.
• Ensure high-quality, organized, and professional workmanshipon all installations to meet project specifications and exceed customer expectations.
• Travel to job sites anywhere within your state, may also be required to travel within the USA
• Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools; ability to lift/carry/setup a 50-pound box or ladder
• Must own low voltage tools (strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches)
• Able to work 2nd/3rd shift, overtime, and under pressure.
• Must pass a 7-year background check, drug screen, and physical.
• Requires valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance
• Commercial constructionexperience preferred
• All above requirements plus a minimum 2years of commercial low voltageinstallation experience
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable and “work a 90” proficiently with limited supervision
• Can install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems forCAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables proficiently
• Ability to build out MDF and IDF closetsincluding racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware with supervision
• All above requirements plus a minimum of 3years of commercial low voltageinstallation experience
• Able to terminate a jack, pull cable and “work a 90” proficiently with no supervision
• Can install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, and coaxial cables with no supervision
• Ability to build out MDF and IDF closets including racks, patch panels, wire management systems, and network hardware with no supervision
• Professional working proficiency in English

Preferred Experience (not required)

• BICSI Technician or Installation Certification
• Powder Actuated Tools Certification
• Confined Space Certification
• CPR and First Aid certified
• Manufacturers certifications for Installation and Maintenance
• High School Diploma

Pay Rate:

Tech 2: $21.00 - $25.00/hour

Tech 3: $23.00 - $28.00/hour
