Job summary

TEKsystems in Berwick, PA is seeking a Data Center Cable Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and document structured cabling within data center environments. This onsite contract role supports network infrastructure per industry standards.

You will install copper and fiber cabling, route through trays and underfloor pathways, install network hardware, perform testing, read diagrams, and maintain accurate documentation. OSHA certification and BICSI credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• BICSI Certification required or preferred.
• Fiber optic termination and testing experience.
• Experience in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
• Experience installing/terminating Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and fiber.
• Knowledge of TIA/EIA, BICSI standards preferred.
• Ability to read technical drawings, cable schedules and network docs.
• Experience with cable testing and certification equipment.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and cabling installation equipment.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts and hardware.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret network diagrams, rack elevations, floor plans, and cabling schematics.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cable installations, labeling, and infrastructure changes.
• Conduct moves, adds, and changes across data center environments.
• Ensure compliance with customer standards, industry best practices, and safety regulations.
• Assist with equipment rack and stack activities, including mounting and cable dressing.
• Respond to service requests, incidents, and infrastructure support tickets.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas within critical facility environments.

Job Overview

The Data Center Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and documenting structured cabling systems within data center environments. Preferred Qualifications

• BICSI Technician or Installer Certification.
• Fiber optic termination and testing experience.
• Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
• Experience installing and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI preferred).
• Ability to read technical drawings, cable schedules, and network documentation.
• Experience with cable testing and certification equipment.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cabling installation equipment.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts and hardware.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Berwick, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
