Job description

Project Type: Large-Scale Transportation Infrastructure

Project Overview

We are hiring for our client seeking an experienced Low Voltage Superintendent to support a large-scale transportation infrastructure project in Columbus, Ohio. This is a field-focused leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple low-voltage trade partners across several technology, communications, security, and infrastructure scopes. The ideal candidate has experience working on large commercial, transportation, mission-critical, or similarly complex construction projects and brings a strong field presence, the ability to build productive relationships with trade partners, and the confidence to keep multiple scopes moving safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. The position requires someone comfortable working within a complex, active facility where construction activities must be carefully coordinated around ongoing operations, access requirements, multiple trades, and project schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day field oversight of multiple low-voltage trade partners and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate installation activities across several concurrent low-voltage and technology scopes.
  • Monitor field progress, manpower, schedule, quality, installation readiness, and upcoming work.
  • Coordinate low-voltage activities with general construction, electrical, mechanical, controls, and other trades.
  • Review work in the field for compliance with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and installation standards.
  • Lead field coordination and help resolve installation conflicts, sequencing issues, access constraints, and other construction challenges.
  • Oversee fiber installation activities, including termination and testing.
  • Support planning and coordination for structured cabling, telecommunications, security, and other technology infrastructure.
  • Coordinate construction activities within an active operational environment while minimizing impacts to ongoing facility operations.
  • Build productive working relationships with subcontractors, field leadership, project management, and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field and hold trade partners accountable for commitments, quality, safety, and schedule.
  • Participate in project meetings, field walks, scheduling discussions, coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
  • Identify potential risks, conflicts, or delays early and work with the project team and trade partners to develop solutions.
  • Support system testing, punch-list completion, documentation, closeout, and turnover activities.
Low Voltage Scope

The project includes multiple low-voltage and technology systems, which may include:

  • Structured cabling
  • Fiber optic infrastructure
  • Telecommunications systems
  • Electronic security and access control
  • Public safety and emergency communications infrastructure
  • Facility communications systems
  • Additional low-voltage and building technology systems
Qualifications
  • Commercial construction experience with direct exposure to low-voltage systems.
  • Experience supporting or leading projects valued at approximately $1M or greater, with preference for candidates accustomed to larger, complex construction environments.
  • Experience overseeing multiple low-voltage subcontractors, crews, or workstreams.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling and fiber installation, termination, and testing.
  • Experience with multiple low-voltage scopes such as telecommunications, security, access control, CCTV, DAS, structured cabling, fiber, and related systems.
  • Experience with large-scale transportation, public infrastructure, mission-critical, or similarly complex projects is preferred.
  • Previous Superintendent experience is preferred but not required; experienced Low Voltage Foremen and Leads with strong leadership capabilities will be considered.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, understand installation requirements, and coordinate work between multiple trades.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, address field issues directly, and maintain accountability while developing positive relationships with trade partners.
  • Comfortable working primarily in an active construction environment.
