Job description

POSITION – Low Voltage Lead Technician - Washington DC Only

This is a 1099 hourly position; “contract-to-hire” possible pending performance and economic conditions, and this position requires working in all three jurisdictions of the Washington DC Metropolitan area (DC, MD, VA).

Primary Requirements: Must be a Washington D.C Resident with valid Washington D.C. address with at least 10+ years of expert experience in structured cabling for Voice, Video, Data and Fiber; highly proficient in Access Control and Intrusion Detection installations.

Secondary Requirements: Distributed Antenna Systems, Nurse Call, Intercom, Paging and/or Audio Visual.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • Lead teams of technicians and contractors and perform a variety of installation tasks that include rough-in, termination, testing, programming and all necessary verbal/written communications.
  • Design and configure IDF and MDF to system requirements.
  • Manage projects to deliver successful implementations by meeting project requirements and adhering to industry and company standards.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure availability of materials and equipment.
  • Manage resource labor hours, which include collecting timesheets and allocating labor tasks.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and schematics.
  • Participate in on-site progress meetings and provide updates to account and project managers.
  • Lead and report on daily stand-ups and stretch and flex activities.
  • Have a clear understanding and knowledge of safety protocols, and work with safety personnel as required.
  • Provide daily/weekly progress reports to Foreman, General Foreman, Supervisor, and/or Management.
  • Identify risks and provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most time and cost-efficient methods.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness in assessing and troubleshooting issues and problems.
  • Inspect quality of finished projects to ensure conformance to all specifications and requirements.
  • Perform service call activities for structured cabling and other low voltage systems.
  • Continually learn new products, upgrades and software programs related to low voltage systems.
  • Represent HS Solutions in a professional manner at all times.
  • Abide by OSHA regulations and use protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be punctual, have clean driving and criminal records, and successfully pass a drug test.
  • Ability to manage and motivate teams with proven leadership experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication.
  • Must have working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Solid grasp of basic electrical theory.
  • Work independently or on a team at multiple locations in and around Washington, DC.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and find effective solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl and raise objects overhead.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • OSHA 10 required or higher certification (OSHA-30).
  • At minimum, must be a high school graduate.
  • Able to read and write basic English and compute basic math functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or business a plus.
