Job Description
This is a 1099 hourly position; a “contract-to-hire” possibility exists pending performance and economic conditions. The role requires working across all three jurisdictions of the Washington DC Metropolitan area (DC, MD, VA).
Position – Low Voltage Lead Technician - Washington DC Residents Highly Preferred
Primary Requirements:
- Washington D.C. Resident with a valid Washington D.C. address is highly preferred.
- At least 10+ years of expert experience in structured cabling for Voice, Video, Data, and Fiber.
- Highly proficient in Access Control and Intrusion Detection installations.
Secondary Requirements:
- Experience with Distributed Antenna Systems, Nurse Call, Intercom, Paging, and Audio Visual systems.
General Responsibilities:
- Lead teams of technicians and contractors, perform installation tasks including rough-in, termination, testing, programming, and communication.
- Design and configure IDF and MDF systems.
- Manage projects to ensure successful implementation, meet requirements, and adhere to standards.
- Coordinate materials and equipment availability.
- Manage labor hours, collect timesheets, and allocate tasks.
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Participate in progress meetings, provide updates, and lead daily stand-ups.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Provide progress reports to management.
- Identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions.
- Inspect quality of projects and perform service calls.
- Continuously learn about new products and software related to low voltage systems.
- Represent HS Solutions professionally and abide by OSHA regulations.
Qualification Requirements:
- Punctual with clean driving and criminal records, able to pass a drug test.
- Proven leadership, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of hand/power tools.
- Solid electrical theory understanding.
- Ability to work independently and in teams across multiple locations.
- Good judgment and troubleshooting skills in fast environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb, crawl, and raise objects overhead.
Education Requirements:
- OSHA 10 certification or higher preferred (OSHA-30).
- High school diploma at minimum; a bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Basic English reading/writing and math skills.
