Job summary

ELDR is seeking a motivated Low Voltage Door Security Technician to join our field team in the Twin Cities area. You will install, service, and troubleshoot low voltage door security systems and access control for seniors housing, healthcare, commercial, and industrial customers.

The role requires reading wiring diagrams and floor plans, wiring cabling, and coordinating with customers and project teams. Candidates should have strong troubleshooting, professional communication, and a willingness

Qualifications

• Experience with low voltage systems, access control, door security, or related field work.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot card readers, electric locks, door contacts, request-to-exit buttons, controllers, and power supplies.
• Familiarity with mag locks, electric strikes, delayed egress locks, exit devices, closers, and door position switches is a plus.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, schematics, and installation instructions.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and troubleshoot low voltage door security and access control systems.
• Pull, route, label, terminate, and test low voltage cabling.
• Install and wire card readers, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, power supplies, controllers, relays, and related components.
• Install, connect, and assist with electric locking hardware, magnetic locks, delayed egress locks, strikes, and related door security hardware.
• Perform basic door hardware adjustments to support proper lock, contact, reader, and exit device operation.
• Test and verify installed devices meet project requirements.
• Troubleshoot cabling, power, connectivity, locking, and device communication issues.
• Read and follow floor plans, wiring diagrams, installation manuals, door schedules, and project documentation.
• Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, contractors, and internal team members.
• Document work performed accurately in service tickets and project systems.

We’re Hiring: Low Voltage Door Security Technician

ELDR is looking for a motivated Low Voltage Door Security Technician to join our field team.

This role focuses on installing, servicing, and troubleshooting low voltage door security systems, access control, and related door hardware for senior housing, healthcare, commercial, and industrial customers.

Location: Twin Cities / St. Paul, MN area

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $20–$45/hour, based on experience, licensing, and skill level

What you’ll be doing:

• Install, service, and troubleshoot low voltage door security and access control systems
• Pull, route, label, terminate, and test low voltage cabling
• Install and wire card readers, door position switches, request-to-exit devices, power supplies, controllers, relays, and related components
• Install, connect, and assist with electric locking hardware, magnetic locks, delayed egress locks, strikes, and related door security hardware

What we’re looking for:

• Experience with low voltage systems, access control, door security, structured cabling, or related field work
• Ability to install and troubleshoot card readers, electric locks, door contacts, request-to-exit buttons, controllers, and power supplies
• Familiarity with mag locks, electric strikes, delayed egress locks, exit devices, closers, and door position switches is a plus
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, schematics, and installation instructions
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working on ladders, above ceilings, in equipment rooms, and in indoor or outdoor jobsite conditions
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites
• Low voltage license, power limited license, security certifications, networking experience, or door hardware experience are beneficial
