Standard Communications, Inc. is seeking a Trainee Low-Voltage Cable Technician to join our Nurse Call Systems team in Charlotte. You'll learn end-to-end installation, wiring, and testing of Jeron Nurse Call equipment in hospitals and care facilities.

No prior nurse call experience required; we train the right candidate. This entry-level role offers hands-on training, travel opportunities, upfront travel expenses coverage, daily per diem, weekly pay, and a clear path to advancement through

Qualifications

  • No prior experience with Jeron or nurse call systems required; willingness to be trained matters most.
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring concepts or strong interest in developing this skill set.
  • Ability to satisfy healthcare facility requirements, including a successful background check and drug screening.
  • Capable of navigating crawl spaces or ceilings, working from ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for essential job site travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with wiring, mounting, and terminating Jeron systems in active medical facilities and new construction sites.
  • Help set up master stations, call points, pillow speakers, and corridor lighting according to blueprints and riser diagrams.
  • Learn proper labeling and termination for fiber optic, plenum-rated, and CAT5/6 cabling.
  • Gain exposure to system software setup for zone and staff assignments, and how these systems integrate with EMR, telephony, and RTLS platforms.
  • Support system troubleshooting before handover and observe basic operational training for facility personnel.

Position Overview

This is an entry-level opportunity to launch a career as a Low-Voltage Technician / Nurse Call System Installer, with a primary focus on Jeron Electronic Systems. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you'll learn the end-to-end installation, setup, validation, and maintenance of vital communication infrastructure within healthcare settings, including hospitals and assisted living facilities throughout the area. No prior nurse call experience is required — we'll train the right candidate.

What You'll Learn & Do
  • Deployment & Upgrades: Assist with wiring, mounting, and terminating legacy and Provider series Jeron systems in active medical facilities and new construction sites.
  • Component Installation: Help set up master stations, call points, pillow speakers, and corridor lighting according to blueprints and riser diagrams.
  • Cabling Fundamentals: Learn proper labeling and termination for fiber optic, plenum-rated, and CAT5/6 cabling.
  • Integration & Programming: Gain exposure to system software setup for zone and staff assignments, and how these systems integrate with EMR, telephony, and RTLS platforms.
  • Testing & Instruction: Support system troubleshooting before handover and observe basic operational training for facility personnel.
Your Professional Profile

Core Requirements:

  • Eagerness to Learn: No prior experience with Jeron or nurse call systems required — a strong work ethic and willingness to be trained matter most.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring concepts, or a strong interest in developing this skill set; ability to learn to read electrical floor plans and schematics.
  • Compliance & Access: Ability to satisfy strict healthcare facility requirements, including a successful background check and drug screening.
  • Physical Mobility: Capable of navigating crawl spaces or ceilings, working from ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable Logistics: Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for essential job site travel.
Desired Qualifications (Valued Extras — not required)
  • Any prior exposure to low-voltage, electrical, or IT cabling work (school, , or hands-on experience).
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Cornell, Ascom, Rauland, or similar systems.
  • Interest in pursuing NICET certification in Electronic Safety & Security or Fire Alarm.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).
