Job summary

Fort Leavenworth USD 207 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Low Incidences (Structured Learning) for the 2027/28 school year. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction to students with low-incidence disabilities, developing IEPs, data collection, and progress monitoring in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will work toward inclusive education in a least-restrictive environment, coordinate with therapists, and implement individualized supports to help students

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education required.
• Valid Kansas Teaching License in Special Education required.
• Health and Inoculation Certificate on file after offer.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, data collection, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Patience, compassion, and ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs for students with low-incidence disabilities in collaboration with parents, teachers, and support staff.
• Adapt and modify instructional materials and strategies to meet each student's needs.
• Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, communication, social skills, life skills, and adaptive behavior.
• Utilize AAC devices and other assistive technologies to support learning.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and therapists to promote inclusion.
• Implement behavior support plans (BIPs) and monitor student progress.
• Maintain documentation related to progress, IEP goals, and compliance.
• Participate in IEP meetings and related conferences; communicate with families.
