Job summary

Tattnall County, GA seeks a skilled Equipment Operator to operate a low boy, dump truck, backhoe, front-end loader and related machinery for public works projects. You will perform pre-shift inspections, monitor safety, and coordinate with the crew to ensure efficient workflow on site.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid Class A CDL, and at least three years of hands-on experience with low boys and drop decks. You must be a U.S.

Job description

This position is responsible for operating a Low Boy and the operation of a variety of moderately heavy-duty construction equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Operates one or more ofthe following types of equipment to facilitate department work processes safely and efficiently: low boy,
• dump truck, back hoe, front-end loader and other related equipment.
• Operates a variety of handheld tools and equipment such as a chain saw, shovel, and rake.
• Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in proper operating condition.
• Service's and makes minor repairs to equipment; operates two-way radio.
• Performs equipment maintenance duties such as lubricating, greasing, and checking belts, hoses, air, oil, gas, and other fluids.
• May load dump truck and haul rock, dirt, mulch, asphalt, and other materials to or from work sites.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

• Knowledge ofthe operations and maintenance of standard construction equipment.
• Knowledge of the hazards of equipment operation.
• Knowledge of department and safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of county geography, including roads and rights-of-way.
• Skill in defensive driving techniques.
• Skill in operating various heavy and light equipment.
• Skill in performing minor equipment repairs, adjustments, and maintenance.
• Skill in using various hand and power tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is typically performed while operating light or heavy construction equipment for extended periods of time, with intermittent standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Possess or able to possess Class A
• 3 years of experience working with Low Boy and drop deck
• Valid state vehicle license required
• Able to work in a team and produce quality work under tight deadlines
• Initiative and strong analytical skills
• Diligence, prioritization skill, and time management
• Adaptive learner with a positive attitude
• Must be a Citizen of the United States
