Job summary

You will generate physician queries when documentation is ambiguous, maintain coding ethics, and work with the Corporate Director of Documentation and Reimbursement to align services with organizational goals.

Qualifications

• RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC certification from AHIMA required.
• Minimum of 2 years inpatient coding experience in LTAC or Acute Care.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, and APC coding principles.
• Familiarity with 3M Coding Software preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office.

To support a leading healthcare system, the full-time Remote Inpatient Coder will abstract and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to patient claims while ensuring coding quality and integrity through documentation review and collaboration with healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate assignment of principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures based on inpatient documentation review
• Generate physician queries to clarify ambiguous or conflicting documentation in accordance with coding ethics
• Collaborate with the Corporate Director of Documentation and Reimbursement and other healthcare staff to align coding services with organizational goals

Required qualifications

• Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC from AHIMA is required
• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience in LTAC or Acute Care settings
• Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG, and APC coding principles
• Familiarity with 3M Coding Software is desired
• Proficient in computer use, including basic understanding of MS Office
