Job summary

Cox Enterprises, Inc. in Texas is seeking a Vehicle Porter to help move and position vehicles within the canopy structure and assist customers and coworkers while adhering to safety policies.

The role includes driving vehicles on sale days, arranging them in order, and performing basic maintenance tasks such as inflating tires and jump-starting engines. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 2 years of related experience.
• Safe drivers with valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge (identifying flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles).

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day in a safe manner.
• Drive vehicles to and from designated areas on Auction premises and to and from customer dealerships and businesses, while observing Auction driving rules and the rules of the road.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the supervisor or team leader.
• Assist with getting vehicles operating as needed; inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank.
• Assist customers (dealers, account representatives, rental agencies) and coworkers as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Job description

Porters will be primarily responsible for pulling vehicles in and out of a canopy structure. Porters are expected to assist customers and coworkers alike while following our company's safety policies.

Work schedule: M-F 8 am-5 pm,

Job Responsibilities:

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day in a safe manner.
• Drive vehicles to and from designated areas on Auction premises and to and from customer dealerships and businesses, while observing Auction driving rules, and rules of the road and demonstrating courtesy and defensive driving principles.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the supervisor or team leader, move vehicles as necessary, and locate "lost" vehicles.
• Assist with getting vehicles operating as needed. Inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank if necessary. Notify the supervisor when a vehicle is inoperative; notify the Service or Gas Truck Driver when the vehicle is out of gas.
• Assist customers (i.e., dealers, account representatives, rental agencies, etc.) and coworkers as needed.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
• Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED
• Generally, less than 2 years’ experience in a related field
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying (i.e., flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles.)

Preferred

• 6 months of auction or driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
