Job summary

Cox Automotive Inc. is seeking candidates to drive and move vehicles at our Dallas-area auction site. Shifts run Monday through Friday from 7am-4pm or 11am-8pm, with overtime possible based on business needs.

Candidates should demonstrate safe driving, basic mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work in outdoor, variable weather conditions. Responsibilities include driving vehicles through auction lanes, transporting cars between areas and customer dealerships, and assisting with minor

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Less than 2 years in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to identify issues like flat tires or low gas.

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale days safely.
  • Transport vehicles within Auction premises and to/from customer dealerships, following driving rules.
  • Line up and park vehicles as directed; locate missing vehicles as needed.
  • Assist with vehicle starts; inflate tires; jump-starts when necessary; report inoperative vehicles.
  • Assist customers and coworkers; maintain safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned; overtime may be required.

Job description

  • Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day in a safe manner.
  • Drive vehicles to and from designated areas on Auction premises and to and from customer dealerships and businesses, while observing Auction driving rules, and rules of the road and demonstrating courtesy and defensive driving principles.
  • Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the supervisor or team leader, move vehicles as necessary, and locate "lost" vehicles.
  • Assist with getting vehicles operating as needed. Inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank if necessary. Notify the supervisor when a vehicle is inoperative; notify the Service or Gas Truck Driver when the vehicle is out of gas.
  • Assist customers (i.e., dealers, account representatives, rental agencies, etc.) and coworkers as needed.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Generally, less than 2 years' experience in a related field
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying (i.e., flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles.)
Preferred
  • 6 months of auction or driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
  • Knowledge of LDM preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear, vision abilities required to include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk long distances.
Work Environment
  • Constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level. (100% outdoors)

USD 13.70 - 20.53 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $13.70 - $20.53/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
