Job summary

PW Retail Foods LLC in Milwaukee is seeking a Loss Prevention Specialist to identify and deter theft and property losses using surveillance, procedures and camera systems.

You will train store staff on security systems, coordinate with management and law enforcement, and testify in court as needed; travel is required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in retail loss prevention.
• Must be able to pass company-directed training programs.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Apprehend individuals involved in theft or property damage by patrols and surveillance.
• Assist in prosecution related to theft, property damage, or inappropriate behavior.
• Communicate effectively with store owners, managers, and law enforcement via multiple channels.
• Provide training on camera and alarm systems and loss prevention programs to staff and customers.
• Maintain documentation on security incidents or investigations.
• Maintain proper functioning of physical security systems and testifying in court when necessary.
• Coordinate with risk management or HR on investigations.
• Identify and report security concerns within the store environment.
• Recommend methods to reduce risk exposure.

Position Overview

As a Loss Prevention Specialist, you will identify merchandise, financial and property losses occurring from known or suspected internal or external sources by utilizing surveillance, procedures and camera systems. You will also investigate employee or customer activities that may involve suspicious or inappropriate activities to prevent losses and maintain and train personnel on physical security systems and locks.

• Apprehend persons involved in the theft or destruction of store property by patrolling the stores, effective surveillance and direct observation.
• Assist in the prosecution of persons involved in theft, destruction of company property or inappropriate behavior at the workplace.
• Effectively communicate with store owners, managers, upper management and law enforcement via statements, forms, emails, telephone, and in-person communications.
• Provide training on for company members and retail customers on camera and alarm systems, loss prevention activities and other loss prevention systems and programs, where applicable.
• Train store and company personnel in loss prevention activities.
• Maintain documentation or reports on security-related incidents or investigations.
• Maintain proper functioning of physical security systems.
• Testify in civil or criminal court proceedings as necessary.
• Coordinate with risk management, human resources or upper management to assist in fact-finding investigations.
• Identify and report security and safety concerns within the shopping environment.
• Recommend methods, systems or processes to reduce risk exposure.
• Install and repair camera systems as needed.

• Specialized Knowledge : Knowledge of store layouts and general operations of supermarkets; Knowledge of security policies and procedures
• Special Skills : Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect and track data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables in difficult circumstances;
• Physical abilities: : Ability to hear, speak and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages for assistance, to accommodate verbal requests from customers for information or assistance, to answer telephones, and to be able to communicate effectively with store owners/managers, department employees, the store's co-workers, customers, and clients; Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read, understand, and/or present effectively the necessary communications to the workforce or independent store operators;required to sit; stand; and use the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools or controls;must frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel;;must occasionally exert or lift up to 75 pounds and frequently exert or lift moderate amounts of weight; requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and sufficient visual acuity to check and verify invoices and other written documents;
• Have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies and sufficient dexterity to disassemble and clean power equipment, if necessary;
• Other: : Be able to pass company-directed training programs or modules and other necessary certifications;

Years Of Experience

• 2-5 : Experience in retail operations with successful participation and training in loss prevention; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
