Position Summary

The Loss Control Specialist provides loss control services to clients within a defined region. The primary goal is to fulfill client service responsibilities as outlined in our Client Service Agreement and to reduce financial losses in our workers' compensation program by recommending hazard/exposure controls, assisting with safety program implementation, and providing safety awareness training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide hazard assessments to underwriting, reporting on the desirability of risk accounts for writing or renewal.
  2. Conduct onsite safety surveys and client interviews to identify hazards and exposures.
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of clients' hazard and exposure controls.
  4. Develop and assist in implementing client health and safety programs.
  5. Submit written recommendations for hazard and exposure control measures.
  6. Identify clients with poor risk and safety performance.
  7. Recommend clients be placed on a 30-day risk improvement plan or terminated.
  8. Provide safety services and training in accordance with the client service agreement.
  9. Document all onsite inspections following loss control guidelines.
  10. Advise clients on OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
  11. Conduct accident investigations, review claim reports, and liaise with clients for claim follow-up.
  12. Participate in special projects, such as fraudulent claim surveillance, as assigned by the VP of Risk Management.
  13. Conduct annual client reviews.
  14. Coordinate claim management with the Claims Manager.
  15. Travel to support clients in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
  • Understanding of industry standards and practices.
  • Technical ability to analyze and present loss control data.
  • Motivated, with a strong work ethic; capable of working independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Education & Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in safety and health.
  • OSHA 510/511 certification and a safety-related university credential or equivalent work experience, as approved by the VP of Loss Control.
