Job summary

SWBC in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Loss Control Manager to partner with client companies on safety and risk management. You will conduct onsite and virtual safety assessments, deliver training, investigate accidents, and analyze injury trends to reduce workers’ compensation exposures.

You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to improve safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and develop loss prevention strategies while advancing client relationships and project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, or related field.
  • OSHA 10/30-hour certifications preferred; CPR/First Aid preferred.
  • Experience in safety audits, risk assessments, and loss control.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Job description

The Loss Control Manager serves as a trusted safety and risk management partner to client companies by helping identify and reduce workplace hazards, improving safety practices, and minimizing workers' compensation exposures. This position conducts onsite and virtual safety assessments, delivers training, investigates accidents, analyzes injury trends, and provides practical recommendations to help clients create safer work environments. The Loss Control Manager works closely with clients and internal stakeholders to promote injury prevention, support compliance efforts, and improve overall loss performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assist new clients in establishing effective safety and accident prevention programs.
  • Review existing client safety programs and recommend updates to improve compliance, reduce injuries, and support best practices.
  • Conduct onsite and virtual safety assessments to identify hazards, evaluate risk exposures, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze injury trends, loss runs, and incident data to identify recurring causes of loss and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop client-specific safety action plans for accounts experiencing elevated claim frequency, severity, or loss trends.
  • Prepare reports for management and clients regarding safety performance, identified risks, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Correspond with clients regarding safety observations, audit findings, corrective action plans, and recommendations resulting from site visits or consultations.
  • Conduct client safety training programs, including both onsite and virtual training sessions.
  • Investigate serious employee accidents and conduct root cause analyses to identify contributing factors and corrective actions.
  • Monitor implementation of safety recommendations and follow up on corrective actions to ensure sustained improvement.
  • Partner with Claims Management Specialists to identify preventable claim trends and develop loss prevention strategies.
  • Participate in client claims review meetings and provide loss control recommendations to reduce future claim activity.
  • Assist clients in developing return-to-work and transitional duty programs that support employee recovery and reduce claim costs.
  • Develop industry-specific safety resources, toolkits, and training materials for client companies, including property management operations.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding safety, accident prevention, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices.
  • Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and continuing education requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university).
  • Four to ten years related experience.
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour certification in construction and general industry preferred.
  • Completion of OSHA 510 and OSHA 511 trainer course preferred.

  • Safety and Accident Prevention Investigation OSHT-1015-10CD Instructor Certification for CPR/Medic First Aid/AED American Society of Safety Engineers Safety Certification OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification Texas Department of Insurance Field Safety Representative Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Sit for long periods of time while entering data, making phone calls, or performing other sedentary duties.
