Brief Summary

The Looper Operator maintains a continuous strip of material between the uncoiler and the tube mill for seamless operation. Responsibilities include operating overhead cranes, handling heavy coils of steel, operating hydraulic systems, and assisting other operators as needed.

Essential Functions

• Weld coils to ensure continuous material flow between uncoiler and tube mill
• Load/unload steel coils using an overhead crane
• Use measuring tools to verify product quality
• Assist with mill setups
• Keep detailed records of coils used during shifts
• Maintain a clean work area and operate floor scrubber when possible

Required Qualifications

• 1-3 years relevant experience
• Legible reading and writing skills
• Ability to work with decimals and fractions
• Operate a hand-held overhead crane
• Operate a forklift and obtain a license within 30 days
• Lift steel coils weighing up to 50 pounds

Highly Qualified

• Experience with welding or cutting equipment such as stick welders, plasma cutters, etc.
