Job summary

Walleye Capital in Minnesota seeks a Junior Trader to join a team of experienced traders, developers, and researchers. You will learn and operate our proprietary market making software, monitor equities and options, and identify trading opportunities while growing to manage a book of names.

Position Overview

Walleye Capital’s Minnesota-based market making team is seeking a Junior Trader to join a team of experienced traders, developers, and researchers. This individual will be a key addition to the team as we continue to expand our trading presence and increase the number of equities and options we actively trade. The Junior Trader will learn and operate our proprietary market making software and risk management systems, research equities and options, monitor market activity, and identify trading opportunities. Over time, the individual will take increasing ownership of trading decisions and ultimately manage a book of equities.

This role requires strong analytical and quantitative skills, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail. Our traders are responsible for monitoring and quoting a large number of symbols, making the accuracy of theoretical values, positions, and risk parameters critical to successful performance. The Junior Trader will work closely with senior traders and other members of the team to refine trading strategies, evaluate market opportunities, and maintain disciplined risk management.

As the individual develops, they will assume greater responsibility for a subset of names, allowing for deeper coverage and supporting the team's continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate the team’s proprietary market making software, trading tools, and risk management systems.
• Monitor equities and equity options throughout the trading day and identify potential trading opportunities.
• Research individual equities, options, volatility, and relevant market developments.
• Maintain accurate theoretical values, pricing assumptions, and risk parameters across assigned symbols.
• Monitor positions and exposures and make adjustments consistent with the team’s risk framework.
• Analyze market trends, volatility, liquidity, and other factors that may impact trading strategies.
• Manage a book of equities and options under the guidance of senior traders, with the goal of ultimately assuming independent responsibility.
• Collaborate closely with senior traders, developers, and researchers to improve trading strategies, tools, and overall performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve pricing, execution, risk management, and trading processes.
• Maintain accurate trading records and contribute to performance and risk reporting.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail are critical.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of trading experience in options market making or a closely related trading role.
• Strong understanding of equity options, volatility, pricing, and market making concepts.
• Experience using market making software, trading platforms, and risk management systems.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple positions and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to process market information quickly and make informed decisions under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

What Success Looks Like

The successful Junior Trader will develop a strong understanding of the team’s trading systems, strategies, and risk framework while progressively taking ownership of a portfolio of names. Over time, this individual will independently identify opportunities, manage risk, contribute ideas to the broader team, and help expand the scale and breadth of the team’s market making activities.

Base salary: $200,000 plus a competitive bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
