Job description

Charlotte Latin School is seeking an experienced Upper School Spanish teacher to fulfill a long-term substitute position. This position is expected to begin in September 2025 and end in January 2026. This position is ideal for motivated teachers with a knowledge of ACTFL standards and a particular passion for teaching Upper School students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 class sections (Levels 1-4).
  • Collaborate with colleagues on lesson plans, grading, and assessment practices.
  • Assess students’ academic performance, including regular grading through assigning and grading regular homework assignments, formative assessments, and summative assessments.
  • Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours, before and after school.
  • Engage with colleagues to maintain Latin’s strong culture of collegiality.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Experience teaching Spanish is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Spanish or a related World Language is required; a Master's is preferred
  • An understanding of ACTFL proficiency standards and how they apply to language acquisition.
  • OPI rating of Advanced High or above preferred
