Job summary

Bensalem High School in the Bensalem Township School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute ELD Teacher to start immediately through the 2026/2027 school year. The substitute will support English Language Learners, collaborate with teachers, monitor student progress, and maintain accurate records while upholding district policies.

Strong instructional, classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to support language development and academic achievement for ELL

Qualifications

• PA ESL Specialist Certification required.
• PA English 7–12 Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Acquire English language skills necessary for social, cultural, and academic success.
• Meet Pennsylvania Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Academic Standards.
• Develop English communication skills necessary for educational and career success.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress in English language acquisition.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and provide appropriate support for English Language Learners.
• Serve as a home/school liaison for ELL students and their families.
• Provide effective instruction utilizing appropriate instructional materials, technology, and resources.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and effective learning environment.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress to parents/guardians.
• Collaborate with guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, and other professional staff to support student achievement.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and other school activities as required.
• Upholding District policies, administrative regulations, and school rules.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the Building Administrator.
