• Selects, evaluates, and orders library materials that support student learning and curriculum needs.
• Collaborates with teachers in selecting books, instructional materials, and other library resources.
• Teaches students research, reference, information-literacy, and independent learning skills.
• Provides library instruction and lessons that promote student engagement and appreciation of library resources.
• Maintains an accurate and efficient computerized cataloging system and assists students and staff in its use.
• Coordinates interlibrary loans and other resource-sharing services.
• Collaborates with teachers to develop assignments and activities utilizing library resources.
• Assists students and staff in locating and effectively using print and digital resources.
• Maintains an orderly, welcoming, and productive library environment.
• Develops displays and exhibits that encourage student interest in reading and learning.
• Supervises and provides direction to library aides and other assigned personnel.
• Keeps current with library technology, information resources, and regulations affecting school libraries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing, with occasional sitting, reaching, and lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds.
