Job Description

Long Term Substitute at Whaling City Jr/Sr High School

JOB GOAL:
To enable each student to pursue their education by providing instruction and appropriately managing the classroom environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain a positive learning environment while delivering instruction and implementing lesson plans in line with District’s goals, policies and procedures for student achievement.
  2. Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  3. Follow and support all District and school policies, rules, and procedures.
  4. Report to the main office upon arrival at the school building to determine the assignment of the day.
  5. Supervise students to ensure their safety and welfare.
  6. Report any student related injury, accident, illness, discipline problem to Administration immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
  7. Report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  8. Maintain the confidentiality of the position including all student and school personnel information.
  9. Other related duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 60 college credits is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Massachusetts Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Those pursuing a career in education preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain appropriate dress and a professional appearance.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa in the United States required.
