Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Elementary School
Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal
Employment Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $30.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
Forcey Christian School is seeking a caring, Christ-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instructional continuity in an elementary classroom during an extended teacher absence. The successful candidate will create a safe, engaging, and academically challenging learning environment while supporting the school’s mission of developing students spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally from a biblical worldview.
Long-term substitute teachers are expected to assume the classroom teacher’s daily responsibilities, maintain instructional excellence, communicate professionally with parents and staff, and actively participate as members of the school community.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction
- Deliver daily instruction using the school’s approved curriculum and lesson plans.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes academic growth, positive behavior, and Christian character.
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and classroom records.
- Integrate biblical principles throughout instruction whenever appropriate.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain classroom expectations consistent with school policies.
- Foster a respectful, nurturing, and Christ-honoring classroom culture.
- Promote student responsibility, cooperation, and servant leadership.
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with administrators, grade-level teachers, specialists, and support staff.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Attend required faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as assigned.
- Participate in lesson planning and curriculum discussions.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree and 3 to 4 years of experience considered.
- Teachable, flexible; classroom management is a must-have
- Experience teaching or working with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Demonstrated Christian faith consistent with the mission and values of Forcey Christian School.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, parents, and administration.
- Successful completion of all required background checks.
