Job Description

A Long Term Substitute - Middle School special education teacher is sought to teach at the McCourt Middle School Candidate should possess skills and experience in co‑teaching, case management, behavior management and intervention techniques. Job Requirements

• Long Term Substitute Middle School Special Education Teacher
• Provides specialized and individualized instruction for students with disabilities consistent with state education requirements and the students' IEP.
• Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with the IDEA.
• Familiarity with Common Core Standards and the RI Proficiency Based Graduation Requirements (PBGR)
• Communicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis
• Participate in the development and annual review of IEPs. Monitor the implementation, and provides information about progress regarding goals and objectives, communicating closely with members of the IEP Team.
• Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and adjustment progress of the students.
• Consults with professional staff in resolving the unique educational and social emotional needs of students.
• Maintains accurate student special education records for state reports.
• Communicates with outside agencies which are providing services to students
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or Building Principal.
