Job Description
Enfield High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Long-Term Substitute Reading Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality reading instruction to students, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting the academic growth of all students.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging reading lessons aligned with Connecticut State Standards.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in reading instruction.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including those related to student safety and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification or eligibility for a Long-Term Substitute authorization.
- Strong knowledge of reading instruction and literacy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching reading at the high school level.
- Familiarity with Connecticut State Standards and curriculum.
