Community Consolidated School District 89 is seeking a substitute Library Media Center Teacher for Briar Glen Elementary School (Wheaton, IL) for the 2026 school year (approximate dates 8/18/2025 - 11/11/2025) during a maternity leave.
To provide all students with an ongoing program in the Library Media Center that creates and maintains a teaching and learning environment that is inviting, safe, readily accessible, and conducive to student learning. This teacher will actively promote reading, information literacy skills, and information resource use through activities including book clubs, reading programs, reading initiatives, and other special events while instructing students and staff in information and technology literacy skills, including reading for understanding, the research process, engaging inquiry, collaboration, critical thinking, and understanding copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property.
Ideally, the most qualified candidates will hold a Professional Educator License (PEL) with Illinois State Board of Education with at least one of the following endorsements: Elementary Education K-9 (ELEM), Self-Contained General Education K-9 (SCGE), Library Information Specialist (LIS), or Technology Specialist. Candidates should have knowledge of literacy development, technology integration and use, research, and inquiry learning. Candidates with other endorsements and experiences may also be considered.
