Job DetailsJob Location: Bentonville - Bentonville, AR 72712Thaden School now seeks a Long-term Substitute Latin faculty member to implement innovative, inclusive curricula and support students as they develop their linguistic understanding, inquiry, and critical thinking skills. This part-time position runs from late November through early March, with an anticipated commitment of 20-25 hours per week.

Role and Responsibilities

• Teach three sections of Middle and Upper School Latin courses.
• Serve on a grade-level team to support the socioemotional, academic, and intellectual development of students.
• Employ standards-based instructional and assessment practices.
• Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students (includes academic coaching, facilitating conversations on social justice and cultural competency, supporting the development of skills, and frequent communication with parents).
• Sponsor a student club.
• Support community-based learning and outdoor education trips.
• Participate in faculty meetings and parent-teacher conferences.
• Support all school programs as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes

• Experience teaching Latin in Middle and Upper School. Spoken Latin is a plus but not required for the role.
• Mastery in the subject matter (a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required).
• Ability to communicate high expectations and standards for student learning.
• Understanding of and sensitivity to adolescent challenges.
• Ability to think broadly and creatively about student-centered learning.
• Commitment to providing detailed feedback on student work in a timely manner.

• Ability to scope and sequence student learning experiences in collaboration with other faculty

Physical Requirements

• Job frequently requires standing, walking, and handling objects with hands.

• Some work performed outside is exposed to changing weather conditions.
