Job summary

Foley Public School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Educational Assistant to support students under the supervision of a special education teacher and school principal. The role includes supervising students with disabilities and assisting in daily educational activities at Foley Intermediate School and Foley Elementary School.

Starting August 27, 2026, with a wage based on experience, the position requires an AA degree or 60 credits, or a ParaPro/ParaEducator assessment, plus PCA

Qualifications

• AA degree or 60 college credits or passing ParaPro/ParaEducator assessment.
• Passing PCA certification online assessment.
• Experience or interest in working with children in a classroom setting.
• Experience or interest in working with children with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work directly under the supervision of a special education teacher and/or the school principal.
• Supervise and work with students with physical, intellectual, and/or behavioral disabilities.
• 7-hour day with 6.5 paid hours per day or 32.5 paid hours per 5-day week.

Position Available: Applications are being accepted for long-term substitute educational assistants at Foley Public Schools.

Location: Foley Intermediate School and Foley Elementary School. Candidates interested in working at either location should apply.

Start Date: August 27, 2026

End Date: TBD

Essential Functions

• Educational Assistants work directly under the supervision of a special education teacher and/or the school principal.
• Educational Assistants supervise and work with students with physical, intellectual, and/or behavioral disabilities.
• 7-hour day (6.5 paid hours per day or 32.5 paid hours per 5-day week)

Qualifications

• An A.A. degree or at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (a minimum of 60 semester credits), or a passing score on the ParaPro or ParaEducator assessment. Information about the ParaPro Assessment may be found at https://www.ets.org/parapro.
• A passing score on a PCA certification online assessment
• Experience or interest in working with children in a classroom or educational setting.
• Experience or interest in working with children with disabilities is preferred.

Wage

• Competitive wage based on experience and qualifications, starting at $20.37 per hour
