Title: Long Term Substitute: Teacher Assistant – Construction Technology

Description:This is a temporary school year position appointed by the Principal, which requires a person who can safely and effectively instruct students in accordance with industrial standards associated with the Carpentry field, and in accordance with school policies, procedures, schedules and negotiated agreements. Vocational instructors report directly to the department’s appointed Team Leader who is responsible to the school's Vocational Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Prepare for the delivery of appropriate instruction in accordance with department goals and objectives following proven procedures.
2. Deliver organized instruction sequentially following program outlines and accepted pedagogical methods and techniques as appropriate to student learning styles and abilities.
3. Use methods of instruction that are welcoming, motivating and supporting.
4. Create an environment that is conducive to learning.
5. Utilize modern technologies and instructional and research tools.
6. Participate in activities that promote the best interest of our students and our school.
7. Cooperate with the Vocational Training Leader in fulfilling the mission of the institution.
8. Abide by school procedures, rules and directives.
9. Maintain decorum and control of assigned students for the purposes of enhancing learning and insuring a safe and healthful environment in the classroom and throughout the school.
10. The candidate must be able to inspire excellence, achieve consensus and respond effectively to the system's mission with humor and enthusiasm.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Successful candidates will possess the necessary skills to teach Carpentry by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, as put forth by Chapter 74, as amended by Chapter 731 and the Education Reform Act of 1993.
2. A background in Construction practices which insures capabilities to succeed as a Teacher Assistant in the field of expertise is preferred.
3. Successful candidates will possess an OSHA 10-hour certification for Construction Industry.
4. Successful candidates will possess a professional and personal history which is exemplary and supported with references.
5. Successful candidates will demonstrate a clear sense of purpose as it pertains to teaching young people who attend this school.
6. Must be physically and emotionally able to fulfill instructional responsibilities and duties.

Compensation

1. Based on credentials, approvals and experience, the successful candidate will be paid in accordance to established long-term Teacher Assistant substitute rates - $130.00/day.

Duration: immediate opening through at a minimum of November 2026
