Job summary

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in Norristown, PA seeks a Long-term Substitute Classroom Teacher for the Office of Early Childhood Services Early Intervention. This full-time position serves children aged 3-5 and starts March 2026.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction, IEP management, collaboration with therapists, and regular family communication. Required PA certifications and prior classroom teaching; FBI/clearances required.

Qualifications

• Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12/Special Education PK-8 required.
• PA Early Childhood PK-4 (N-3) certification preferred.
• Experience as a classroom teacher required.
• Experience as part of an educational team; 3-5 year old population preferred.
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required.
• MA provider clearance by PA and federal government to be conducted on hire.

Job description

A vacancy exist fora Long-term Substitute Classroom Teachers to work within the Office of Early Childhood Services Early Intervention at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! This full-time position services children from 3-5 years old. These positions will be available starting March 2026.

Qualifications

• Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12/Special Education PK-8 required
• Valid PA certification in Early Childhood PK-4 (N-3) preferred
• Experience as a classroom teacher required
• Experience working as a member of an educational teamExperience with 3-5 year old population preferred
• Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the planning, instruction and classroom management.
• Responsible for IEP's.
• Align early childhood classroom instruction with PA Learning Standards for Early Childhood Education.
• Integrate and collaborate to plan instruction with a physical, occupational and speech therapist to provide a comprehensive developmental instructional program for young children.
• Maintain and establish ongoing regular communication with families about classroom learning and student progress.
• Provide oversight and case management of student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Evaluation/Re-evaluation reports.
• Gather evidence and data about student progress towards learning outcomes.

Location

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and services children throughout Montgomery County, PA. Our Early Intervention Program is split on school district lines into four (4) regions within Montgomery County. • Upper Dublin High School (800 Loch Alsh Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034)

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 12 months (194 days/year)

2026-2027 Salary

Bachelor's, Step 1: $55,194/year

Master's, Step 1: $66,508/year

• Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
