Job Details: Job Location: Charlotte Campus - Charlotte, NC 28277, Position Type: Temporary, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Education, Charlotte Latin School has an immediate need for a Long-Term Substitute Assistant Teacher in our Lower School Science Lab. This role supports the Lead Teacher in all daily tasks and activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist lead teachers with daily classroom tasks.
  • Assist and/or lead small group work for enrichment and reinforcement.
  • Assist in carrying out a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities.
  • Assist lead teacher in leading, supervising and providing structure in the classroom.
  • Provide on campus supervision for play areas to ensure children's safety and learning.
  • Supervise lunch every day.
  • Provide support and supervision of off campus excursions.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient classroom.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching preferred.
  • Adept at both large and small group instruction.
  • Proficient with using technology as an instructional tool.

Working Conditions and Environment
  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.
